How it works

The federal government publishes every new NPI (National Provider Identifier). It does not tell you which ones are actually new practices worth selling to. That filtering is the product.

Step 1 · Federal registry

Every new NPI, weekly

We read the CMS NPPES weekly release, the same public file that lists new organization NPIs across the United States.

Step 2 · Filtering

We remove what isn't a new practice

  • Relocations of existing practices
  • Re-incorporations & name changes
  • Owners adding an entity where they already practice
  • Known chains & DSO locations
  • Hospitals, labs, agencies, subparts
Step 3 · Weekly delivery

A clean list, every Monday

What survives is delivered as a CSV or Google Sheet: practice name, the owner or authorized official, practice phone, full address, specialty, and the date it entered the registry.

How we compare

The public NPI file vs Practice Sourcing side by side
The public NPI filePractice Sourcing
What you get ~9 million provider records: every provider, ever Only the genuinely new practices: 1,690 across all specialties last month
Is it new? No such field; new practices mixed in with updates and relocations That's the entire product
Noise Relocations, re-incorporations, chains and hospital subparts all included Filtered out before delivery
Your effort Parse a ~9 GB file across ~330 columns and build the filtering yourself Open a CSV or Google Sheet
Delivery A bulk file you download and process A short list, emailed every Monday

Even most paid versions of the registry just hand you the whole file to filter yourself. We do the filtering.

Questions

Where does the data come from?

The source is the CMS NPPES (National Plan and Provider Enumeration System) weekly data dissemination file, published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Practice Sourcing is an independent product and is not endorsed by or affiliated with CMS.

What does a lead include?

Every row carries its NPI and a direct link to that practice's record in the federal registry, so you can check any row against the government's own copy in one click. We would rather you did — the claim this product makes is that these are genuinely new practices, and that is a claim you should be able to test rather than take on trust.

Practice (legal business) name, the authorized official / owner on the registration, the practice's registered phone number, full practice address including ZIP, specialty, and the date the NPI was enumerated. Fields come straight from the registry as filed; we don't add trade names ("doing business as"), because the registry rarely carries one for a brand-new practice. Note that the registry lists the practice's own phone line, not a personal cell, and it does not carry email addresses — this is a phone and direct-mail channel.

How often is it delivered, and how many leads should I expect?

Delivered every Monday, the same day the data is released. CMS publishes each week's registrations at about 1am Mountain on Monday; our pipeline picks them up automatically within minutes, and your list covers the week that closed the night before. Over the four weeks ending 30 August 2026 the feed produced 1,690 genuinely new practices across all specialties, of which 127 were dental, after removing relocations, re-incorporations, and chain locations. Week to week that has run between about 330 and 465 nationally, and 29 to 36 dental. Those are measured counts for a past window, not a guarantee — volume genuinely varies with what the registry publishes, and we report what we measured rather than a projection. You're buying a steady, clean stream, not a giant list padded with existing businesses.

I only sell in a few states. Do I need the whole country?

No. Every row carries a state column, so you filter to your states in one click in Excel or Google Sheets and ignore the rest. The flat rate is exactly why there are no per-lead fees. You're never charged for the rows you don't use. One honest caveat: a single state can run thin in a given week, so the national stream is really the product: you subscribe to a steady weekly flow and pull your states out of it each time.

Here is every state, so you can check yours before you pay rather than after. These are monthly rates measured over the last four weekly runs, on exactly the basis we deliver. Seventeen states produced no new dental practice at all last month — if yours is one of them, the national feed is the product and a single state is not.

To see what your territory actually looks like before you decide, pick your states in the sample form above — choose as many as you cover, and we'll pool them into one file. We draw from several recent weeks rather than a single one, because a single week is too small a window to judge a state by, and we'd rather show you the real density than a flattering slice.

Why does the sample take 2 business days?

The most recent week is reserved for paying subscribers, so your free sample is drawn from a slightly earlier week. We'll email it to you within 2 business days of your request.

How do I cancel?

Anytime, self-serve, through the billing portal. No email or call required. Manage your subscription here.
